On the Tech Leader Talk podcast with Steve Sponseller, Tzahi (Zack) Weisfeld, Vice President and GM of Intel Ignite, shares how the Intel Ignite accelerator program helps disruptive early-stage deep tech startups succeed.
Tzahi has been a serial entrepreneur for most of his life, so he understands what it takes to be a startup founder and, more importantly, what an accelerator needs to provide fuel for a founder’s development trajectory. “It’s really hard to properly mentor a tech startup founder without having been there,” says Tzahi, who adds that the Intel Ignite startup program is not a textbook study or an MBA program, but a mentor driven 12-week process for early-stage deep tech startups.
The mentors in the Intel Ignite program are a combination of Intel employees, external experts, and former founders who take part to pay it forward. Over the 12-week period, mentors and founders meet weekly where they dive into the details about business models, product development, product market fit, operations, processes, raising funds, and more, providing the founders with access to information to accelerate startup growth.
“A good mentor goes a long way,” says Tzahi. “It’s not an easy thing to do by yourself. You need an experienced person who has the context and helps you through the process. It is super critical.”
